KUALA LUMPUR – Vandalism happened in less than two weeks after a wall of a building in Taman Cahaya Alam, Section U12 in Shah Alam was painted with the mural of national heroes.

The derogatory act which happened last midnight had tainted the mural with insulting words in red paint over the faces of national leaders such as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Prime Minister and the Director-General of Health.

According to the Shah Alam UMNO Division Chief, Datuk Azhari Shaari, he was informed about the incident by several residents of the area this morning.

He was shocked by the incident, as he just visited the mural along with Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday.

“I will discuss with the residents this afternoon to gain their opinion. Perhaps, we will lodge a police report.

“We want the people responsible for this vandalism and uncivilised act to be brought to justice.

“I don’t know their motives,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.

The wall of the building which was once covered with graffiti received a facelift when it became a giant mural art exhibit immortalising the faces of national leaders.

Painted by the 27 year-old Miey Ali, whose real name is Muhammad Suhaimi Ali and assisted by his friends, Abdul Hadi Ramli (27) and Firdaus Nordin (26), the mural of five portraits took two weeks to complete.

It was a tribute to national leaders and personalities which helped to steer Malaysia in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. – MalaysiaGazette
