KUALA LUMPUR – The Special Ministers’ Meeting on Movement Control Order (MCO) had allowed the implementation of Administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in four localities of Kubang Pasu and Padang Terap in Kedah.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the areas placed under the Administrative EMCO are one kilometre radius from Restoran Nasi Kandar Salleh, Pekan Napoh involving the Hosba Locality and Kubang Pasu.
He said, the areas involved included Kampung Pida Satu, Megat Dewa (Mukim Ah, Kubang Pasu), Kampung Bendang Dalam (Mukim Binjal, Kubang Pasu) and Kampung Ulu, Padang Sanai (Padang Terap).
“The administrative EMCO is implemented after the government takes into the consideration of the new 11 cases from the Sivagangga Cluster in Kedah, involving the four localities.
“The Special Minister on MCO have approved the application by the Kedah government to implement administrative EMCO on the area beginning today (3 August) until 30 August,” he said during a news conference on Covid-19 today.
According to Ismail Sabri, the administrative EMCO will use the existing standard operating procedures (SOP) with the additional roadblocks at each exit and entrance and the closure of several main roads in the area.
He said, the healthcare workers from the Ministry of Health (MOH) will conduct Covid-19 screening on about 7,000 residents of the four areas.
“Mosques and houses of worship in the area will also be closed, with the exception for the Friday prayer. Meanwhile, only three people are allowed to perform congregational prayer at the mosques,” he said.
Kedah had requested for the EMCO following the increment of Covid-19 positive cases in Kubang Pasu and Padang Terap.
The cases have increased to 20 people within five days and an additional 13 cases yesterday involving Napoh, Megat Dewa and Padang Sanai in Padang Terap. – MalaysiaGazette
