KUALA LUMPUR – The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Datuk Nor Hisham A. Dahlan has been called to provide explanation over the recent enforcement by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in confiscating items from the roadside traders in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.

The order was issued by the Minister of Federal Territories, Tan Sri Annuar Musa after seeing a viral video of a netizen who recorded and shared the incident in the social media.

“The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur has been asked to give an explanation to me this evening on the video and incidence.

“Enforcement is needed, however, wisdom and prudence are also necessary to resolve a problem… Insyaallah (God Willing), I will investigate,” he said in a tweet.

In a separate tweet, he also acknowledged that the enforcement in the capital city is extremely important and needs to be respected. However, wisdom is also required in resolving issues.

According to him, he will be visiting the affected traders at the Titiwangsa Lake to get more information after he receive the explanation from DBKL.

The enforcement by DBKL on the unlicensed traders was strongly criticised by netizens.

Facebook user, Cikgu Izzat Johari had uploaded a video saying that despite the offence by the unlicensed traders, DBKL could be more considerate by instructing the traders to pack and go home.

“It is time for the DBKL to provide more sites to conduct businesses post-Covid-19. Many are trying their luck in business to make a living,” said Cikgu Izzat. -MalaysiaGazette
