KUALA LUMPUR – 20 new Covid-19 positive cases are recorded in Malaysia today. With the increment, the cumulative cases in the country have rose to 9,149 cases.

Meanwhile, there are 196 active cases and the patients have been isolated and are receiving treatment at the hospitals.

From the 20 new cases reported today, seven were imported cases which got into contact with the disease from abroad. They are six Malaysia citizens and one non-citizen.

“The seven imported cases are from Lebanon (3 cases in the Federal Territory from Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (1 case in Selangor), France (1 case in Selangor), Yemen (1 case in Sarawak) and Taiwan (1 case in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur).

“13 local infections are all Malaysia citizens,” said the Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today.

Kedah has recorded the most case today with 11 cases (10 Tawar Cluster and 1 Muda Cluster).

Meanwhile, a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and one Tawar Cluster screening case in Penang were recorded today.

The Tawar Cluster case in Penang was infected by Covid-19 as the patient is a close contact to a Covid-19 positive case (case 9,149).

“The patient also had history of visiting case 9,113 and case 9,129 in a private hospital in Penang,” said Noor Hisham.

Besides that, there was no Covid-19 death today, thus, the Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia remained at 125 cases.

Meanwhile, seven cases have fully recovered from the disease. The cumulative recoveries from Covid-19 is 8,828 cases. –MalaysiaGazette
