SLIM RIVER – Enrolment of students into the public higher learning institutions in Kedah this October would be postponed.
Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad said, the decision involves Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and the Merbok branch of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).
She who is also the UMNO Women’s Chief said, the measure was needed following the escalation of Covid-19 in the state.
“The universities involved are UUM, UiTM Merbok as there are case in Merbok. All will be postponed in Kedah, with the exception of Langkawi as there is no public higher learning institution there. We will postpone it until further notice.
“Several weeks ago, the enrolment of students in Sarawak was also affected due to the high cases and the deferment will involve yellow and red zones,” she told the media in conjunction with the Slim by-election campaign at Kampong Rahmat Changkat Sulaiman today.
She was giving her support to the candidate of Barisan Nasional, Mohd. Zaidi Aziz who is contesting for the state assembly seat.
Noraini added, the enrolment of private higher learning institutions would depend on the decision of the respective institutions as they involve different enrolment.
