KUALA LUMPUR – Minister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), Zuraida Kamaruddin revealed that the two direct negotiation projects in her ministry were approved by Lim Guan Eng.
The two projects took placed during the administration of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government and they were conducted by Guan Eng as the then Minister of Finance.
“Yesterday, I said that I will investigate the allegations made by the PH leaders that there were two projects approved via direct negotiation in KPKT. As what I’ve promised, I have investigated and announced what I found.
“I can verify that the direct negotiations were conducted by the former Finance Minister himself, Lim Guan Eng,” she said in a statement today.
The two projects were the Beringin Solid Wastes Project worth RM170,291,400 and the Century Software System Project amounting to RM501,206.37.
According to her, the Advisor of Bumi Segar Indah is Tamrin Tun Ghaffar, a supporter of PH.
She added, during a meeting on 26 November 2016, Guan Eng not only renegotiated the project with Tamrin but also agreed to reduce the cost of award by 10 percent, slightly more than the original cost so that it would seem as though it saved the cost of the government.
Guan Eng then advised Bumi Segar Indah to contact KPKT to present and follow up with an official proposal.
After that, the project was approved by the Ministry of Finance under Guan Eng in a letter dated 20 February 2019 from the Ministry of Finance to the Secretary-General of KPKT.
The same went with the Century software project which involved five separate ministries. It was also approved by the then Ministry of Finance.
“I hope that the politicians from PH and former ministers will check their facts before confusing other people,” she said.
Yesterday, one of the former PH minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said that Zuraida was ‘sleeping’ as she did not know what was going on in her ministry. –MalaysiaGazette
