PUTRAJAYA – Three enforcers with Deputy Immigration Officer KP19 rank were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today for investigation over bribery.

They were brought to the Magistrate Court here for the remand order this morning with their hands cuffed.

Magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim then allowed all three officers to be remanded for five days until 14 September.

The trio who work at the Immigration Headquarters in Putrajaya are aged between 33 and 35 year-old.

They are suspected for receiving a sum of money to speed up the process of pass issuance to foreigners to return to their home country without going through the Online Appointment System (OAS).

According to a source, the three officers were arrested between 12.00 pm and 5.50 pm at the MACC in Putrajaya yesterday after giving their statements.

It is suspected that the issuance of pass without going through the OAS process has been going on since the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) where the officers dealt with middlemen to manage the issuance of pass for foreigners who overstayed in Malaysia to return to their countries.

In return, the officers allegedly received RM300 to RM500 for each issuance of pass without going through OAS. – MalaysiaGazette
