KUALA LUMPUR – The Benteng Lahad Datu (LD) Cluster recorded 48 new Covid-19 cases today, turning the total positive cases in the cluster to 472 cases.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, as of this afternoon, 7,247 individuals have been screened from the cluster including 1,531 in Lahad Datu and 5,716 in Tawau.

1,379 inmates have been screened in that process and 429 have been tested positive of Covid-19. 1,156 staff were screened from the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters and the Tawau Prison and 10 individuals were tested positive.

“Besides that, 1,251 screenings were conducted on the family members of the staff and inmates (10 positive cases), 994 officers from other government agencies (no positive cases) and 2,467 social contacts (23 positive cases),” he said in a statement today.

The cases were among the 62 new cases reported nationwide as of 12.00 pm today.

However, Kedah and Penang only recorded one case each today. –MalaysiaGazette
