TAWAU – The Tawau District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Peter Umbuas verified that the police received three police reports on the statement made by former Minister of Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Mohamaddin Ketapi.
According to Peter, the reports were received by several individuals yesterday.
“At Tawau, on the issue, we have received three police reports. It was about the viral video of that candidate. Investigation will be carried out by the Lahad Datu IPD as the incident happened there and the first report was also lodged there,” he told MalaysiaGazette after observing the process of the early polling day for the 16th Sabah state election.
A total of 655 police officers will be voting at the Tawau District Police Headquarters today.
Yesterday, the Kalabakan UMNO Division lodged a police report on Mohamaddin’s statement which claimed that the Kampung Tanduo incident was merely a tragedy and a battle with ‘chickens’ and ‘dogs’.
Its Chief, Andi Muhammad Suryadi Bandy said that the statement from the former Minister was irresponsible and had bad intentions.
Earlier, a video clip on Mohamaddin’s speech during the election campaign at Kampung Wawasan 1 and Kampung Damai near Segama Lahad Datu went viral in the social media. The candidate from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), had allegedly gave unreasonable remarks on the Lahad Datu intrusion.
After being heavily criticised, Mohamaddin came forward to explain the matter, saying that it was taken out of context and made an apology. –MalaysiaGazette
