KOTA KINABALU – The Election Commission of Malaysia (EC) gave its guarantee that there will be no phantom voters during the Sabah state election tomorrow.

The Chairman of EC, Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said that all voters were registered based on data obtained from the National Registration Department (JPN).

“We obtained the registry from the National Registration Department, which means that they are Malaysians. Thus, there is no issue on invisible voters and such. Our data is the official data,” he said during a news conference today after observing the final preparations at the vote-tallying centre for the Moyog state assembly seat at the Penampang Cultural Centre.

A total of 1,088,711 out of 1,103,646 common voters are eligible to vote tomorrow and 14,935 individuals have voted through post on 22 September.

Meanwhile, Abdul Ghani said that the EC has received 10 reports on misconducts during campaign and an arrest was made.

According to him, reports on misconducts can be made through the channels provided by the EC. – MalaysiaGazette
