KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO is still with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and has yet to make any decision in supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says UMNO Supreme Council Member, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
He said, the tittle-tattles about the party supporting the President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in forming a new government are merely rumours.
At the same time, he also requested Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to relook and reconsider the dissatisfaction of UMNO leaders towards the PN government led by him.
“There are some chaos in the PN government recently. That was due to the dissatisfaction of UMNO towards Muhyiddin’s biased attitude towards us since the PN government was established.
“I would like to advise the President of Bersatu, if you want to see a strong PN government, you need to listen to UMNO. Mend and correct things, not by keeping mum, having party wings issuing statements which can worsen the situation,” he told MalaysiaGazette.
Yesterday, Tajuddin, who is also the Pasir Salak UMNO Chief was reported to say that the party is ready to cooperate with Datuk Ser Anwar Ibrahim if the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan has a formula to make everyone happy.
He emphasised that the support is not impossible if they think that the Opposition Chief can give them what they wanted.
When asked about UMNO’s dissatisfaction with PN, the Salak MP said that the matter has been going on for a while, since PN was established, especially when the voices of its leaders were not heard and were given insignificant portfolios.
“We do not threaten. We wanted to join PN so that we can provide the best service to the people and UMNO wants to return and become a party which can be accepted by the people,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
