KUALA LUMPUR – The frequent unscheduled water disruption due to odour pollution at the river has caused affected consumers to channel their anger to the Selangor state government.
Nevertheless, the Selangor State Exco, Hee Loy Sian urged the public to condemn the people who polluted the river and not the state government.
When contacted by China Press, Loy Sian also said that anyone who can expose the identity of the perpetrators who polluted the river will be rewarded with RM20,000.
He, who is also the Kajang State Assemblyman said that the state government is often the target of anger whenever a river pollution happens.
According to him, the government does not reject the possibility that the frequent pollution were done purportedly and the water management has also lodged a police report on the matter.
He said, the Selangor state government has arranged for a 24-hour patrol by the authorities since September but the efforts does not guarantee that the perpetrator can be arrested successfully.
Since September, Sungai Gong, Sungai Semenyih and Sungai Selangor had continuously been polluted and the condition had caused water consumers in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to experience water disruptions. –MalaysiaGazette
