KUALA LUMPUR – The Attorney-General’s Chamber (AGC) has decided not to take further action on the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC), Datuk Dr Khairuddin Aman Razali for flouting the mandatory Covid-19 home quarantine after returning from Turkey.

The Director of Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Datuk Huzir Mohamed said, the police have submitted the complete investigation paper to the AGC for further action.

However, the Attorney-General has decided a No Further Action (NFA) on the PAS leader who is also the Member of Parliament of Kuala Nerus.

“Our investigation paper has been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chamber and the Attorney-General has decided a No Further Action on the case as the Form 14B under Section 15 (1) Act 342 for the quarantine order was not given to him.

“Based on that information, the AGC has decided not to press any charges as there was no strong evidence to build the charge,” he said in a special news conference today.

The police had opened an investigation on Mohd Khairuddin after he failed to observe the mandatory 14-day home quarantine after returning from Turkey on 7 July.

27 police reports have been received over the incident.

The police had conducted investigation, including taking statements from the leader prior to referring the case to the Attorney-General.

The Ministry of Health in a statement earlier said that the ministry has issued a RM1,000 compound on Mohd Khairuddin on 7 August for the offence under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 [Act 342]. –MalaysiaGazette
