KUALA LUMPUR – The Sungai Pelek state assemblyman, Ronnie Liu Thian Khiew was released this morning after being quizzed by the police at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD).
The DAP leader went to the Petaling Jaya IPD to give his statements to the police following his social media post which allegedly contained seditious remarks against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) on 21 October.
The Bukit Aman CID Deputy Director (Investigations and Legal) DCP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid told MalaysiaGazette: “Yes, he was released on police bail (after his statement was taken this morning).”
Ronnie Liu arrived at the Petaling Jaya IPD at 10.40 am this morning with his lawyer, Jadavish Chandra.
The police conducted investigation on four Twitter and Facebook accounts’ owners for issuing seditious remarks against Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The Bukit Aman Director of CID, Datuk Huzir Mohamed said that among the individuals investigated by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit of Bukit Aman is the owner of Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew’s Facebook account.
The police also investigated the Twitter account owner of Uncle Ireeve for uploading insulting remarks on YDPA and Liew Lip Nan for questioning a video uploaded by the National Security Council (MKN) on the Seven Wills of the Malay Rulers and the Facebook account owner of Ho Ruey Terng who uploaded offensive remarks on YDPA. –MalaysiaGazette
