KUALA LUMPUR – Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussien denied that he had been campaigning to be appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister.

He said, positions and ranks is not his agenda as the main focus of the government and UMNO now is the Parliament sitting, Budget 2021 and the management of Covid-19 crisis.

“Referring to the article in Sin Chew Daily which implicated me as one of the candidate for Deputy Prime Minister has invited various queries and reactions – I would like to state that I have never worked towards that.

“I am grateful to the party for supporting me to represent UMNO as a Minister in the current Government,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said, his stance is in line with the media statement made by the President of UMNO and the decision by the Supreme Council of the party that supported the call of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for everyone to stop political games.

“The standpoint and decision is for the benefit of the party – in the past, now and forever,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
