KUALA LUMPUR – The second phase of Bantuan Prihatin Nasional 2.0 (BPN 2.0) amounting to RM2.2 billion would be channelled to its recipients in January 2021.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz said that the government will be replacing Bantuan Sara Hidup or BSH to Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat or BPR.
The rate of the cash aid and the category of income are as follows:
Households with monthly income of less than RM2,500 and one child will be receiving an aid of RM1,200. Meanwhile, households with two or more children will receive an aid of RM1,800.
Meanwhile, BPR amounting to RM800 will be given to households with monthly income between RM2,501 and RM4,000 and a child. Households with two or more children will receive an assistance of RM1,200.
For households with monthly income between RM4,001 and RM5,000, they will receive RM500 for those with one child. Households with two children and above will receive RM750.
Unmarried individuals with the income of RM2,500 and below will receive cash aid amounting to RM350. However, the age limit for unmarried individuals have been reduced to 21-year-old compared to the previous 40-year-old.
The BPR is expected to benefit 8.1 million people with an allocation of RM6.5billion compared to 4.3 million recipients with the allocation of RM5 billion earlier under BSH. –MalaysiaGazette
