KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 1,210 new Covid-19 positive cases today, with 13,806 active cases in the country.
With the latest addition, the cumulative number of coronavirus cases in the country is now 49,730 cases, said the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
According to him, the states in the Klang Valley recorded higher number of cases (518 cases) than Sabah (499 cases).
“From that amount, 435 cases (84 percent) were from clusters. 206 cases reported in Kuala Lumpur were from the Damanlela Construction Site Cluster and all of them are non-citizens.
“A total of 142 cases (52.4 percent) reported in Selangor were from the Teratai Cluster involving 131 (92.3 percent) non-citizens.
“Both clusters involved work place,” he said in a news conference at the Ministry of Health today.
From the total number of positive cases, 19 cases were imported.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham also said that 1,018 cases have fully recovered from the disease and discharged today.
“This makes the cumulative cases of patients fully recovering from Covid-19 to 36,625 cases or 73.6 percent from the total cases,” he said.
105 Covid-19 cases are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit now. 40 of them required respiratory support.
The Ministry of Health also recorded five Covid-19 deaths today from patients aged between 25 and 59.
“Therefore, the cumulative Covid-19 deaths in Malaysia is 318 cases or 0.6 percent from the total cases,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
