KUALA LUMPUR – 28 factories belonging to Top Glove in Klang, Selangor have been ordered to close in stages to allow its employees to undergo Covid-19 screening and quarantine.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the measure had to be taken following an obvious spike of Covid-19 positive cases among the workers in the company.
The government had earlier implemented the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) on the dormitories of the rubber maker in Meru, Klang, Selangor beginning 17 November 2020.
“During the special meeting today, the MOH (Ministry of Health) announced the sharp increment of Covid-19 positive cases among the employees of that factory,” he said in a news conference today.
According to Ismail Sabri, as of now, the Ministry of Health had conducted 5,794 screenings and 1,889 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected.
He said, the closure of the 28 factories and the process of screening will be coordinated by the Selangor State Security Committee with the cooperation from the management of Top Glove. –MalaysiaGazette
