KUALA LUMPUR – Restaurants, convenience store, grocery stores, petrol stations and all businesses under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) are allowed to operate until 12.00 am with immediate effect.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the decision was made after listening to the complaints from business operators who had to shorten their business hours in order to comply with the CMCO.

Besides that, the government also listened to the grievances from the public who find it difficult to purchase food or essential items as all businesses need to close by 10.00 pm.

“We listened to the complaints by business operators, business associations and we also listened to the grievances of the public on the SOP of shortening business hours to 10.00 pm.

“Many leave home to eat at night and such. Muslims for example, they go out after the Isyak prayer at 9.00 pm but the shops are closed at 10.00pm. It affects the people.

“Thus, in the meeting today, we agree to allow restaurants and all business activities to operate until 12.00 am with immediate effect.

“If they can start tomorrow, then, tomorrow,” he said in a news conference today. –MalaysiaGazette
