KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Federal Territories still detects some foreigners conducting businesses near the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market in Selayang.

Its Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that although the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has enforced the law, however, some foreigners still trade around the sidewalks at the buildings next to the market.

“The conduct their business stealthily at forbidden places, including foreigners who are not allowed to trade inside or outside the KL Wholesale Market.

“The places where people conduct business are important if they are unhygienic, obstructing the traffic or sidewalks, thus, it must be monitored by DBKL,” he said after presenting the prizes of the Mural and Graffiti Contest at the Kuala Lumpur Wholesale Market.

Also present at the event was the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Federal Territory, Datuk Rosida Jaafar and the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Mahadi Che Ngah.

On the relevant development, Annuar said that 100 closed circuit televisions (CCTV) have been installed around the KL Wholesale Market as a monitoring and security measure.

“Not only in the wholesale market but also at its surroundings so that we can monitor activities outside the area besides assigning enforcers there for better patrolling.

“We still trace activities which are against the regulations. However, I hope that DBKL can improve on that from time to time,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
