KUALA LUMPUR – The government has finally agreed with the withdrawal from Account 1 of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) through the i-Sinar programme offered to all eight million members who face financial problems.
Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz delivered the decision while winding-up the Budget 2021 debate at the Dewan Rakyat today.
“Now, all eight million EPF members are eligible to withdraw money from Account 1. It doesn’t matter if they have lost their job or have their salaries cut.
“As long as their income has been clearly affected, they can withdraw from EPF’s Account 1,” he said.
According to Tengku Zafrul, contributors with Account 1 balance below RM90,000 can withdraw up to RM10,000 compared to RM9,000 announced during the Budget 2021 presentation on 6 November.
He said, the move would involve a total allocation of RM70 billion. –MalaysiaGazette
