KUALA LUMPUR – The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will be bringing the proposal to abolish all terms and conditions for the i-Sinar scheme championed by UMNO to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had a discussion with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EPF, Tunku Alizakri Alias on the matter and requested the EPF to abolish all criteria announced by the EPF to simplify the withdrawal process.
“InsyaAllah (God willing), he responded well and was positive in bringing the issue for further discussion with the Finance Minister. Pray for a positive outcome for the people. InsyaAllah,” he said in a Facebook post today.
In that post, Asyraf said that the UMNO Youth and him are consistent in fighting for the withdrawal of Account 1 as most of the people, including the M40 who had been in the T20 category are anxious about the sustainability of their lives after being affected by Covid-19.
“Some cynically accused the UMNO Youth and I for purportedly raising the EPF i-Sinar issue to gain popularity. Some also alleged that we are trying to topple the government.
“All I can say to them is try to spend some time and read the comments of the people in the social media, including my FB page. Those do not include the thousands of messages we received through the Secretariat of EPF ISSUE MONITORING – UMNO YOUTH via two hotlines.
“That is why the UMNO Youth is consistent in raising this issue right from the beginning as this is what the people who are anxious and pressured wanted,” he added.
According to him, they have carried out various efforts including meeting and sending memorandum to the Finance Minister, Minister of Economic Affairs, UMNO Supreme Council, BN Supreme Council and Members of Parliament from Barisan Nasional (BN) to fight for this at the Parliament.
Asyraf further said that the UMNO Youth will continue to fight for this issue despite being accused for trying to benefit from it. –MalaysiaGazette
