KUALA LUMPUR – The Supply Bill (Budget) 2021 has been passed by the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun, only one Member of Parliament (MP) was absent and did not vote.

“The block voting for Supply Bill 2021 has 111 in favour, 108 did not agree and one absent,” he said during the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

The Supply Bill (Budget) 2021 was passed with a slim majority of three MPs after the budget was read for the third time.

The Bill was passed at policy stage on 26 November through majority voice. It then went through a tough committee level voting before all budget for 27 ministries were approved.

Out of the 27 ministries, 18 ministries were approved at the committee level with majority voice. Meanwhile, nine ministries went through bloc voting.

On 6 November, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had allocated RM322.5 billion in Budget 2021.

From that amount, RM236.5 billion will be channelled for Overhead Expenses (OE) and RM69 million will be used for Development Expenses (DE).

The remaining RM17 billion is allocated for the Kumpulan Wang Covid-19 Fund. –MalaysiaGazette
