KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor continued to record the highest number of new daily Covid-19 cases eight days in a row with the latest addition of 535 cases today.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that from the amount, 363 cases were from clusters and close contacts screening from the field.

“This is followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with 226 case and Sabah with 189 cases. 193 cases related to lock-up, prison and immigration depot clusters were reported today.

“This involved the Jalan Harapan Prison Cluster (123 cases), Tembok Gajah Cluster (56 cases), Kolam Air Cluster (8 cases), Tembok Cluster (5 cases) and Hala Mutiara Cluster (1 case),” he said in a news conference at the Ministry of Health today.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham also revealed five new clusters involving Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Kedah and Perak.

He said, for the Jalan Panah Construction Site Cluster in the Pantai Valley of Kuala Lumpur, 21 cases were reported on 7 December through a targeted screening at the construction site where 1,000 people were screened.

According to Noor Hisham, the Menara Wang Cluster involved the Pantai Valley, Cheras, Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur; Petaling, Klang, Sepang and Hulu Langat districts in Selangor; Maran and Kuantan districts in Pahang. 23 people were detected positive of Covid-19 out of the 293 individuals screened.

“For the Saga Tengah Cluster involving the Tenom and Keningau districts in Sabah, 16 were positive out of 298 screenings.

“The Hala Mutiara Cluster involved the Kinta district in Perak, as of 23 December, 51 individuals were screened and seven were tested positive,” he said.

He added that 84 individuals have been screened from the Kolam Air Cluster in the Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu districts and 14 were tested positive. –MalaysiaGazette
