KUALA LUMPUR – UMNO explained that Tan Sri Annuar Musa was not sacked from his position as the Secretary-General of Barisan Nasional (BN) which was held by him since March last year.
On the contrary, the Secretary-General of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that according to the rules, he should be shouldering the position right from the beginning.
“Usually, the Secretary-General of UMNO is also the Secretary-General of BN and I was also given the responsibility as the Secretary-General of Muafakat Nasional (MN).
“Annuar’s allegation that he is sacked is not true. He is not sacked. He is replaced,” he told the journalists after a meeting with the UMNO Division Leaders and the President of UMNO at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
Several media reported that Annuar, who is also the Member of Parliament of Ketereh was sacked from his position as the Secretary-General of BN with immediate effect by Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Chairman of BN and President of UMNO.
However, Ahmad Maslan refused to comment if Annuar’s replacement was made as the latter was seen to be siding Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
“I don’t want to comment on that. The President of the party thanked Annuar for his service and contributions throughout his tenure,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
