PUTRAJAYA – Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that the decision of the UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in sacking him as the Secretary-General of Barisan Nasional (BN) was against the written regulation set by BN.
According to him, Zahid made the decision in a meeting with the UMNO Division Leaders at the capacity as the President of the party and not the Chairman of BN.
“Sack me again. Sack me during the BN’s meeting,” he said during a news conference today.
The Member of Parliament of Ketereh said that according to the written rules and practice, the termination must be conducted during the BN meeting by the Chairman of BN after discussing with the component parties of BN.
He said, the three component parties of BN, although small, must be respected and not ignored when an action is taken.
“The three component parties have the rights to suggest who deserves to replace the Secretary-General of BN,” he said, referring the termination of Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz as the Secretary-General for BN ten months ago was conducted in such way as he was appointed by the President of UMNO.
Elaborating further on his termination, Annuar said that he has yet to receive any official document, on the contrary, he only received a short message from Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan who has replaced his position.
According to him, Ahmad Maslan, who is also the Secretary-General of UMNO said that he did not request for the position.
As a person who has been in UMNO for a long time, the Minister of Federal Territories said that the Pontian MP did not need to send the text.
Annuar also said that he would remain with UMNO and there is no reason for him to leave the party. Furthermore, no one was trying to dispel him from the party.
Stating that he would stay the course in the party, Annuar said that his loyalty to the party has been proven and the things which led to his sacking have been decided by the party.
He further said that the President of the party, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has never reprimanded his action when he raised the ‘No Anwar, No DAP’ question and he is also confused about UMNO’s position in handling various issues involving the party.
According to Anwar, he raised the issue as he did not want to conspire with the direction of the party steered by Zahid. He is now free to act and make political stand according to his heart as he is no longer the Secretary-General of BN.
“I accept this termination and I surrender to Allah. I will continue to fight via UMNO and make UMNO a party with dignity, integrity and keep leader the people and Muafakat Nasional,” he said.
He also requested the PAS leaders to have a big heart and not give up despite he knew that some of them are confused and hurt by the leaders of UMNO. –MalaysiaGazette
