KUALA LUMPUR – Employers need to provide quarantine centre to isolate their foreign workers tested positive of Covid-19.
Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Seri M Saravanan said that the employers must also bear the medical cost and expenditure of the foreign workers during the isolation period.
Employers are urged to report to the Ministry of Health (MOH) immediately if their foreign workers are tested positive of Covid-19.
“Employers need to be more proactive in curbing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic among their foreign workers. This follows the increment of over 125,000 Covid-19 positive cases in the country,” he said in a statement.
According to Saravanan, the employers also need to conduct Covid-19 screening on their foreign workers according to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas)(No. 9) Regulations 2020 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 enforced since 1 January 2021.
“This enables early detection of foreign workers who are positive of Covid-19 and then, curb the spread of the pandemic to their colleagues,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
