KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to announce the latest measures by the government to overcome Covid-19 in Malaysia on Monday said the Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily news conference on the latest development of the Movement Control Order (MCO) just now.
According to him, the government is aware of the public concerns following the sudden surge of Covid-19 cases announced by the Director-General of Health yesterday.
“I cannot reveal much about this. Let’s wait for the Prime Minister’s announcement next Monday,” he said.
Ismail Sabri also said that he is aware of the various information distributed in the social media, alleging a tougher action will be taken by the government to curb the spread of the disease.
However, he refused to state if the rumours are true or the otherwise but merely said that the Prime Minister will make the announcement.
Since yesterday, a poster alleging that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be making a special address at 4.00 pm yesterday went viral. Unaware of the details on the special address, most netizens assumed that the special address is related to the reimplementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in several states.
Nevertheless, the source from the Prime Minister’s Office denied the matter, saying that it was a fake news. –MalaysiaGazette
