PUTRAJAYA – The latest measure, which will be announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today, would be able to reduce the increasing trend of Covid-19 positive cases.

“With the latest measures, the Prime Minister will be announcing a very important move for us to control the Covid-19 pandemic tonight.

“We would definitely see the reduction of the cases if the measures are implemented and we need the support of the community,” said the Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba.

Meanwhile, Adham also said that his ministry guarantees that the existing Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre and the Ministry of Health’s Training Institutes are still able to support the current Covid-19 patients.

According to him, although the infections are expected to reach 5,000 cases per day and 8,000 cases beginning this March, the two facilities are able to receive and treat Covid-19 patients.

“We always prepare items needed for the hospitals such as beds, medical wards, ICU and ventilators.

“The most important thing is the human resources. For that, we always need to ensure that we have enough of healthcare workers at all time.

“Such places (Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre in MAEPS, Serdang) are ready to receive Level 1 and Level 2 low risk Covid-19 patients,” he said.

Meanwhile, Adham said that high risk Covid-19 patients will be admitted into the government hospital for further treatment.

For that, they are also working with the private hospitals to assist in providing treatment to the Covid-19 patients.

“For Level 3, 4 and 5, we admit them into the MOH Hospitals and we are also preparing for the private hospitals to play a role in treating the Covid-19 cases in the future,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
