SHAH ALAM – Selangor will be implementing akad nikah (wedding solemnisation) through video conference throughout the whole Movement Control Order (MCO), subjected to the approval of the religious authority.

The Director of Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said, the brides and grooms-to-be need to make an appointment for the wedding solemisation from the District Islamic Religious Department (PAID) or the management first.

“The registration for wedding solemnisation needs to be done at PAID, meanwhile, the bride and groom, guardian and two witnesses would be at home,” he said in a statement.

According to Mohd Shahzihan, JAIS will open 10 telephone counters in their One Stop Centre at the Sultan Idris Shah Building for the wedding, divorce and ruju’.

Enquiries on the services could also be emailed to [email protected]. The Enforcement Hotline will be open from 8.00 am until 12.00 midnight.

The MCO 2.0 is being implemented in Selangor, Penang, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah for 14 days beginning today until 26 January. -MalaysiaGazette
