KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) hopes that the proclamation of emergency in the country could be a driving force in repairing the rift with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and form a ‘huge opposition coalition’ of PH++ by combining all opposition parties.

Besides that, the President of PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reportedly opened his heart to cooperate with Dr Mahathir and the President of Warisan, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

Sinchew Daily reported that the PH had a meeting on Tuesday to discuss about the formation of a giant opposition pact, PH++ and Anwar did not reject the suggestion.

“We talked about the giant coalition and Anwar did not reject the idea. We can discuss but we need to stop attacking each other first.

“PKR requests for Dr Mahathir and Shafie to stop attacking Anwar, meanwhile, the parties in PH want Anwar to stop his subordinates from attacking Dr Mahathir,” said the PH leader.

According to that source, PH hopes that the proclamation of emergency would provide an opportunity to repair the broken relationship between the opposition parties.

The PH Presidency Council had their first 2021 meeting. The meeting was postponed last year as Anwar was ‘not very happy’ with a statement from DAP and Amanah led by Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu.
