KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Razak said that the sectors which caused the rise of Covid-19 infections from the largest clusters need to be temporary halted.
According to him, the factories, manufacturing and construction sites have caused the biggest number of Covid-19 cases and clusters during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
However, these sectors are allowed to operate during the supposedly strict MCO.
“Let us stop the sectors which contributed to the largest amount of cases / clusters for the meantime. Allow the healthcare system and frontliners to breathe so that our healthcare system has the chance to recover,” he said in a Facebook post.
The former Prime Minister also questioned the discrepancy on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of MCO and CMCO for those sectors.
Therefore, he said that it would be better for those sectors to be halted for two weeks throughout MCO 2.0 so that the Covid-19 infections could be controlled and the MCO would not be extended.
In another posting, Najib also question the logic of gold and jewellery as an essential service during the MCO.
“Essential service for who?” he questioned.
He threw the question after Habib Jewels announced that its showrooms are open as usual according to the SOP. –MalaysiaGazette
