KUALA LUMPUR – The Paya Besar UMNO Division demands for Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to relinquish his position as the party’s President.
The demand is made following the escalation of crisis which could not be resolved among the UMNO highest leadership, especially the Supreme Council Members and the Members of Parliament (MPs) since the 14th General Election (GE14) and the 2018 UMNO General Assembly.
Its Division Chief, Datuk Ahmad Tajuddin Sulaiman said that the actions of the Supreme Council Members and MPs were directionless and it exposed UMNO to the risk of losing the Malays’ confidence that is vital for the GE15.
“The direction is not clear and the weakness in execution dilutes the fighting spirit of 3.6 million UMNO members.
“The direct impact from the charges of misconducts towards UMNO leaders is a heavy burden for UMNO to rise again,” he said in a statement today.
Elaborating further, Ahmad Tajuddin said that the UMNO members cannot see the clear reason to support a leader sacked by the Supreme Council itself, rejecting the cooperation with Bersatu by the Divisions.
This, according to him, showed that the UMNO members have clearly rejected the leadership of Bersatu.
“For the Malays, UMNO, loyalty and the efforts of 3.6 million party members, YB Dato’ Sri Zahid Hamidi should relinquish his position as the President of UMNO Malaysia,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
