KUALA LUMPUR – All government agencies were warned to take precautionary measures to avoid and minimise the cyber attacks by Anonymous Malaysia in hacking websites belonging to the government.
The National Security Council through National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) viewed the threat which went viral in the social media seriously.
In a statement today, the MKN said that the Council, along with NACSA are collaborating with the Malaysia Royal Police (PDRM) to coordinate appropriate actions.
“The government is very concerned and prioritise on the safety of the government’s information technology infrastructure, and the national critical systems by highlighting the actions on enhancing the information technology system, including increasing the knowledge and skills of relevant officers,” said MKN.
According to MKN, the action is also highlighted under the Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy (MCSS) launched in October last year.
The 2 min 29 seconds viral video by Anonymous Malaysia warned that it would launch cyber attacks on government’s websites and online assets.
The group also alleged that Malaysia has very weak security system that caused data breach and hackers can sell the personal data of the citizens in the country.
In the video, Anonymous Malaysia also quoted the issue of data breach by the telecommunications companies in the country and cyber attacks on the Malaysian Armed Forces network recently. –MalaysiaGazette
