KUALA LUMPUR – Due to mere rose apple branches issue, a Datuk was reported to have hit his neighbour, who is also a daughter to a Tan Sri.

Based on a report by Oriental Daily, the victim, Veronica Wong, is the daughter to veteran MCA Central Committee Member, Tan Sri Wong Mook Leong.

The incident happened after Veronica, who is a lawyer, left a notice for her Datuk neighbour, requesting him to trim off the branches of his rose apple tree which has breached into her compound.

Unexpectedly, the neighbour intruded her house, hit her, seized and smashed her spectacles and telephone on the ground.

Veronica said that the branches of the tree in her neighbour’s house were too long and had breached her house. The condition caused a lot of ants, mice, bats and even squirrels.

“When the ripe fruits fall, they invited animals and birds to nest and dirty my house with their faeces.

“I informed my neighbour about this problem but he did not take any action,” she said.

According to the 50-year-old Veronica, she left a notice on her neighbour’s car on 26 December, a day before the assault to request him to trim the branches of the tree.

The situation caused dissatisfaction for the Datuk who then threw pebbles and knocked on her doors hard.

“When I opened the door, he came in telling me that he wanted to teach me a lesson,” he said.

The incident took place in a luxury housing area that practices gateless community concept.

Based on the police report, the neighbour slapped Veronica, pulled her shirt, seized and smashed her telephone and spectacles.

The assault also caused injuries to the victim’s face, neck, head, chest, shoulders, back and thumb.

The University of Malay Medical Centre had issued a medical report on the victim’s injury on 22 January.

The Brickfields Police verified the victim’s report and will be taking statements from everyone involved. –MalaysiaGazette
