KUALA LUMPUR – 16 items have been identified in the implementation of the Chinese New Year Maximum Price Scheme 2021 in conjunction with the celebration on 12 February 2021 nationwide.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that the scheme can indirectly curb unreasonable price increment during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“16 items have been identified for the scheme which include chicken, chicken eggs, vegetables, seafood and pork.
“The maximum price for producers, wholesale and retail determined matches the current price trend and in conjunction with the festive season.
“Besides that, some of the prices are lower and will remain just like the Christmas Maximum Price Scheme,” he said.
According to Alexander, the scheme will come into effect from 8 until 16 February.
Actions will be taken against traders who hike up prices purportedly without valid reason and solely for profiteering. -MalaysiaGazette
