KUALA LUMPUR – The process to revoke the Emergency Ordinances by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as being advised and presented by the Cabinet Ministers on 23 July could not be completed.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, in line with the decree of Agong and Article 150 (3) of the Federal Constitution, a motion to debate the Emergency Ordinance could be brought to the Parliament sitting in September.

“With the end of the Proclamation of Emergency on 1 August 2021, based on the providence of the Federal Constitution, the revocation of Emergency Ordinances by KDYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong should not be a rising issue,” he said in a statement today.

According to Muhyiddin, the motion will be discussed in the Cabinet Meeting tomorrow. It is hoped that the polemic following the revocation of emergency ordinances can be resolved harmoniously according to the constitution. –MalaysiaGazette
