LANGKAWI – The father of the two boys who passed away after eating leftovers in a rubbish bin at Bukit Malut was arrested for further investigation.

The Langkawi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said that the 36-years-old Myanmar national was arrested by the police last night.

“Urine test on the suspect also found that he was positive of drug.

“The suspect is under arrest to assist into the investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, Section 6(1)(c) Immigration Act 1959/63 and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a media statement today.

Commenting on the development of the investigation, Shariman said that the body of the two siblings will be sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for post-mortem today.

Yesterday, MalaysiaGazette reported that the two Myanmar siblings were found dead after they allegedly ate leftovers from the trash bin at Kampung Baru Sungai Tepa, Bukit Malut.

The victim, Nizambudin, 4, and his brother, Ngei Jamaludin, 2, were reported to have passed away at 5.40 pm.

Early police investigation found that the father of the two boys saw them staggering near a trash bin before he brought them to a neighbour’s house nearby.

However, the children were found to be not breathing several minutes later and the villagers contacted the police. -MalaysiaGazette
