Air Selangor scheduled water disruption

KUALA LUMPUR – 998 areas in the Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor Territories will be experiencing water supply disruption from 9.00 am on 13 October 2021 onwards, following the upgrading and maintenance of critical assets that would cause a shutdown at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (SSP1 WTP).

The water supply is projected to be fully restored by 9.00 pm on 16 October 2021.

The list of the affected area is listed in the following APPENDIX A link:

APPENDIX A – SSP1 (1)

The Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said that the upgrading and maintenance work was previously scheduled in 2019 and consequently in 2020. Nevertheless, it was postponed due to water pollution incidents that had caused a large-scale unscheduled water supply disruption. The implementation of these works has been approved by Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) to ensure that the water supply distribution system is at its best level for the convenience of consumers in the future.

“Water supply will be distributed in stages to consumers starting from 5:00 pm, 14 October 2021 after the upgrading and maintenance works have been completed, and the water supply distribution system has been stabilised.

“Water supply is expected to fully recover at 9:00 pm, 16 October 2021. The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance of the consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system,” it said in a statement today.

Following that, Air Selangor will be mobilising 105 water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres and funerals. It also advised all affected customers to store adequate water supply and use water prudently during the scheduled water supply disruption period.

Besides that, Air Selangor will also provide 18 Public Water Taps from 14 to 16 October 2021 for the convenience of customers in need of water supply during the water supply recovery period.

For commercial customers, four (4) local water filling stations will be made available for them to purchase water supply and to be collected using their own water tankers. Commercial customers can make payment for the water supply purchase at all 10 Air Selangor Customer Service Counters.
