PETALING JAYA – A man was arrested by the police for obstructing civil servants in carrying out duty after he recorded and distributed a video of him being fined by the police for not wearing face mask at a petrol station.

He also made a Facebook Live video during his arrest showing how he left a team of police waiting outside his house for a long time.

The man also requested the police to show their identity card and enforcement card and when he was not allowed to continue recording the video, he then read out the name and identity card numbers of the policeman.

He was also seen to be ‘playing’ the police when he raised various questions besides defending his rights of not wearing face mask. He also alleged that his action did not obstruct the police from discharging their duties.

Earlier, a video of the incident where he was issued a compound for not wearing face mask went viral. According to him, he was merely walking five metres from his car to the counter at the petrol station to reload his Touch N’ Go card.

Right after being reprimanded by the police for not wearing face mask, he then started to question the police while recording the incident. He also started to get violent when the police warned him not to do that.

The youth gave various excuses for not wearing face mask, including the possibility of getting pneumonia based on a research made in Denmark.

He did repeatedly questioned the police who were carrying out their duty and threw offensive words at them besides refusing to stop recording the video despite he was issued a compound for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The 15.42 minutes video recorded by him was made viral, not only that he obstructed the police from carrying out their duties but he also condemned them for being irresponsible and framing the people by taking salaries from taxes.

The video also showed that he requested the identity documentation of a policeman and provoked him despite being advised to stop the provocation several times.
