KUALA LUMPUR – It is unfair to abandon UMNO leaders who are being charged at the court.
UMNO Supreme Council Member, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said that until the court has proven that they are guilty or innocent, all leaders facing court case have the right to remain in the party and defend themselves.
Therefore, he thinks that the recent recommendation from the former UMNO Deputy President, Tun Musa Hitam is merely his personal opinion.
“That is his opinion but we must also be fair as a person is innocent until proven guilty.
“Those that have not be proven guilty officially and have not be found guilty have their rights. It’s only the opinion of the people, the opinion of the voters. We have punished them way earlier,” he said during a news conference after a work visit to the Ampang LRT Depot.
Earlier, Musa said that UMNO needs to be brave and take a stand to push aside any leaders who are implicated with court cases.
He said, the action is needed to save UMNO and all leaders who are being charged at the court ought to be pushed asides, until they are proven innocent.
Although Tajuddin understands what the former UMNO Deputy President was trying to say, however, he thinks that all leaders involved in court cases have their own rights.
For the record, among the UMNO leaders who are facing court cases are Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the Secretary-General of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan. – MalaysiaGazette
