KUALA LUMPUR – 1,116 new Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Selangor continues to record the highest daily positive cases with 403 cases.

He said, from that amount, 337 cases were detected from active Covid-19 close contact and clusters screening at the field.

“This is followed by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur with 158 cases and Sarawak with 77 cases.

“Prison and Immigration Detention Depot (IDD) related cases involved the Jalan Harapan Prison Cluster (55 cases), Tembok Tapah Cluster (8 cases), Tembok Taiping Cluster (6 cases), Jalan Awang Cluster (2 cases), Machap Umboo IDD Cluster (2 cases), Sepang 2 IDD Cluster (1 case), Telok Mas Cluster (1 case), Tembok Pengkalan Chepa Cluster (1 case) and the Tembok Bukit Besi Cluster (1 case),” he said.

Noor Hisham also shared that based on the 1,108 cases were local infections, meanwhile, eight cases were imported.

He said, there are 14,134 active cases in the country where 156 are admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 60 required respiratory support.

1,495 Covid-19 patients have fully recovered from the disease today, shifting the total recoveries to 318,784 cases.

Nevertheless, five Covid-19 deaths were also recorded in the country, turning the cumulative Covid-19 deaths to 1,238 cases. –MalaysiaGazette
