KUALA LUMPUR – An Indonesian maid who has not been paid for a year was abused to half dead by her employer in Taman Rainbow, Sentul.

It was even more shocking to find her own compatriot domestic helper abetted her employer to abuse the victim inhumanely.

The Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said that the police managed to arrest the two women; a local and an Indonesian aged 38 and 42 during a raid at the house.

The duo are believed to have abused the 24 year-old Indonesian woman who also worked as a domestic helper at that house.

The 1.30 am raid yesterday was conducted by a team of police from the Bukit Aman Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Division (D3).

“Further inspection by the police brought to the seize of several weapons such as cane, wood and iron rod believed to be used by the suspect to abuse the victim,” he said in a statement today.

He said, the case is classified under Section 12 and 14 of ATIPSOM 2007.

According to Eng Lai, early police investigation found that the victim sustained several injuries and bruises on several parts of her body such as her face, head, shoulder, neck and leg due to the abuse.

“It is even sadder that the employer who abused the victim was assisted by her own colleague, a domestic helper from Indonesia.

“According to the victim, she has worked for 16 months as a maid in that house with the employer and she has not been paid for a year.

“The victim is believed to be abused due to the mistakes she made while carrying out her daily duties and the police had successfully rescued the victim and obtained a Temporary Protection Order from the court,” he said.

According to Eng Lai, the victim is currently placed at a Women’s Shelter Home in Damansara temporarily while the investigation on the two suspects is ongoing.

He said, the two suspects have been remanded for six days beginning yesterday until 24 April for investigation.

“The investigation paper will be referred to the Prosecution Department in Putrajaya after its completion for prosecution,” he said.

Public with information on the abuse may contact the Sentul IPD Operational Room 03-40482206. -MalaysiaGazette
