KUALA LUMPUR – All schools in Selangor have been ordered to close beginning tomorrow until the Aidilfitri holidays.

The order was issued by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to all District Education Officers in Selangor.

According to a letter dated today, the closure is ordered after getting the recommendation in the Selangor State Special Security Committee Meeting (JKKNS) today.

The measure is an effort to reduce the movement in the community following the escalation of Covid-19 cases in Selangor.

“Taking into consideration that there are only two days of face to face school session left, the MOE has decided that all schools under MOE in Selangor will be shut on 6 and 7 May 2021.

“The school closure will continue until the Aidilfitri holidays announced by the MOE on 26 April 2021,” said the letter.

However, according to that statement, movement of students returning from their hostels in conjunction with the Aidilfitri holidays will be made according to the schedule provided by their respective schools.

To avoid confusion among the students and parents, the boarding schools need to maintain the movement schedule set earlier.

It also said that the teachers need to carry out home based teaching and learning (PdPR) based on the suitability and accessibility of the students to communications throughout the school closure period.

“Therefore, all district officers must ensure that all schools adhere to this order,” it said. –MalaysiaGazette
