KUALA LUMPUR – Effective from today, services related to legal firms and commissioner of oath may operate as usual after getting the green light from the National Security Council (MKN).

MKN has changed the status of the legal sector and commissioner of oath to essential services throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) or Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.

In a statement by the Bar Council, it said, the revised SOP has verified that firms related to the law regardless of its field of practice are allowed to operate as usual.

The MKN guideline updated on 28 June showed that legal firms and commissioner of oath can operate with the staff attendance of up to 60 percent under strict SOP.

Nevertheless, an approval to operate needs to be obtained through the Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). -MalaysiaGazette
