KUALA LUMPUR – Allegations on the genetic sequencing technology vaccines with messenger RNA (mRNA) such as Pfizer and Moderna would alter a person’s behaviour or cause mutation is a myth.

Consultant Paediatrician Datuk Dr. Musa Mohd Nordin also denied that its recipients would turn into monsters.

“It is obvious that those who ask such questions do not know about the biology of mRNA. It has a long history of usage in vaccine and it is not a new method.

“It has a history of three decades. The Moderna mRNA manufacturer has nine vaccines including influenza, dengue, rabies and many others and none of it was meant to kill humans or make them retarded.

“Allah grant us the wisdom to prevent diseases, thus, when the mRNA is injected in our cells, it does not enter the nuclease, not near the DNA, thus, we don’t become monsters,” he said during a SkopMG programme entitled Covid-19 Vaccine: Why Are People Opposing It? Broadcasted live last night.

Along with Dr Musa was another panellist, Consultant Endocrinologist Dr. Norshinah Kamarudin.

According to Dr Musa, the ribosome cell give instructions for our cells to make a harmless piece of what is called the “spike protein.” The spike protein is found on the surface of the virus that causes COVID-19 and it will enter our blood stream. The immune system then detects these viral proteins will start to produce a defensive response to them where antibody will be created.

“The soldiers (antibody), when attacked by Covid-19, they have memory, attach themselves on the Covid-19 and do not allow it to stick on the cells of our body.

“If they don’t stick, they cannot enter and cannot harm or kill us,” he said, adding that it would then be destroyed and excreted from our body.

“mRNA will be destroyed in a matter of seconds. They do not have a biology base. The allegation is a fairy tale, there is no fact and mRNA will be destroyed.

According to him, mRNA will still act even after several years after it attacks Covid-19 virus because the cells have memory.

Based on a research by Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), 2.5 pregnant women administered with the vaccine did not deliver abnormal babies.

“No abnormal babies, retarded, weird and monsters. These are all lies from the anti-vaxxers,” he said.

He also advised non-professional ustaz (religious leaders) to stop making health fatwas as if they are doctors, just as doctors do not make fatwa about religion.

Meanwhile, Dr Norshinah said that many pharmaceutical companies use mRNA but the usage in Covid-19 vaccine is something new.

“This (mRNA in vaccine) has not been around for long, secondly, while the mRNA vaccine was created, the virus was still under investigation and there is always new findings.

“One of it is that the spike protein in the infection is toxic and some biologists warned the company that they should not use mRNA as it produces spike protein that becomes the source of the actual disease,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
