JOHOR BAHRU – A driver of a courier service company was burnt to death after his the lorry driven by him was involved in an accident at Jalan Tasik Utara, Larkin, today.
Operations Commander from the Larkin Fire and rescue Department, Deputy Enforcer of Fire & Rescue I, Mohd Suhaimi Jamal said that 10 firefighters and one engine was rushed to the location at 11.40 am.
According to him, the accident involved a five-tonne lorry driven by the 23-year-old male victim.
The accident is believed to have happened after the victim tried to avoid a cone before crashing into the road divider and a tree on the right side of the road, causing the lorry to swerve before catching fire.
“The accident caused the lorry to catch fire, and the victim was stuck and unable to get out. The passerby tried to remove the victim from the vehicle but the fire was too strong,” he said in a statement today.
“The fire has caused about 70 percent of damage and the estimation of loss is still under investigation.
“The body of the victim has been surrendered to the police for autopsy process,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
