KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Education (MOE) has introduced the Subject Cluster (KMP) method for the one-off intake of teachers, said its Minister, Senator Datuk Mohd Radzi Md. Jidin.
He said, the method would provide opportunities for more graduates to apply for the post based on their bachelor’s degree mapping with the suitable subjects.
He said, graduates with specific main specialisation can apply to fill the vacancies of other subjects categorised in the similar cluster.
“From the criteria selection aspect, permanent appointment priority will be given to graduates with education qualification from the public, private and foreign universities
“Besides that, the candidates must also fulfil the service scheme terms, KMP mapping and pass the interview conducted by the Education Service Commission (SPP).
“The interview also evaluates general competency such as attitude, personal appearance and functional competency such as the contents of the subject and pedagogy,” he said at the Parliament today, answering the questions from Senator Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid who requested the MOE to explain about status of the one-off appointment of teachers announced by the government recently.
According to Mohd Radzi, the MOE announced the one-off special intake of 18,702 Grade DG41 Education Service Officers (PPP) to fill the vacancies of teachers in the schools under MOE.
He said, the PPP intake is under the jurisdiction of SPP as the party authorised for the appointment.
The Education Minister said, the new teachers intake under the MOE was based on the vacancies and subject option matching.
Meanwhile, the SPP has completed the mission and the intake offers have been announced in stages.
“Currently, 13,770 candidates have successfully been offered into permanent appointments as DG41 PPP by the SPP.
“As of 28 March, 13,255 teachers have been placed in their positions nationwide, meanwhile, the remaining 515 will be placed beginning 11 April.
“Based on the latest status, there are 4,932 vacancies left under this special intake which need to be filled by eligible candidates,” he said.
He also stated his confidence that the one-off teachers intake could address the teachers shortage issue nationwide.
According to him, the MOE will continue to study and discuss with the federal agencies to seek the best approach to fill up more vacancies from time to time. -MalaysiaGazette
