KUALA LUMPUR – The leaders of Barisan Nasional (BN) needs to increase its attacks on Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN), not merely staying in the defence mode.

The Deputy Chairman of BN, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan said, it is a problem for BN to merely be on the defence and allow all slanders and fabricated perceptions to reach the community.

Mohamad said, BN should not just sit and allow the party to sink in the non-stop attacks from various angles by PH and PN.

“I observe that in many situations, we failed to provide and answer and rebuttal. Even if we did, they were political rhetoric without objectives.

“If these attempts to answer and rebut are not well planned and conducted strategically, it would only make the situation worse.

“We must start to increase our attacks and offensive strategy, not just wait and stay defensive,” he said during the launch of Barisan Nasional (BN) Convention in conjunction with the 48th anniversary of the party today.

He said, the BN’s defensive approach all these while gave an impression as if the party is weak and guilty.

“Sometimes, I truly regret that we choose to keep quiet. Our component parties’ engines do not seem to be able to fight the wicked slanders of our opponents radically and effectively.

“We are not a party without resources and strength. We have all sorts of resources and strength. Use it!

“The wait and see approach, and answering only when attacked, this must stop immediately. We must be active, proactive and expose the failure of PH and PN,” said the Deputy President of UMNO.

Also present at the Convention were the Secretary-General of BN, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir; Chairman of the BN Advisory Board, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak; Deputy President of MCA, Senator Datuk Dr. Mah Hang Soon and Deputy President of MIC, Datuk T Murugiah.

Meanwhile, Mohamad said, BN will be evaluated by the people through its idea.

According to him, a party without idea is a dead party and will cause the people to lose confidence towards BN.

“No one will place their trust on BN if it fails to present good ideas for Malaysia.

“Remember, political stability without idea on how to manage the country will not be enough.

“Stability but life is hard, that is not the best way to mange the country. Stability, with the declination of all other indexes of the people’s confidence is a formula that will bring our nation backwards,” said Mohamad.

Therefore, Mohamad recommended for BN to introduce new offers and image to the people.

He said, BN must change the perception that it is implicated with power craze, corrupt, power abuse and various negative connotations.

On the contrary, BN must be synonym with unity with a progressive culture and political approach. -MalaysiaGazette
