MALAYSIANS must stand in solidarity with the victims of the recent Putra Heights gas pipeline fire, this is the least we can do. I urge all to sympathise and empathise with the victims.
Offer them your moral support and prayers in your respective faith, it is the bare minimum we can do as family. Do not criticise and add additional burden or torment to the victims or emergency and rescue personnel on duty.
In the same breath, I call on all to lend your support to the various uniformed personnel and agencies involved in the search-and-rescue operation, regardless of if it is the Police, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force or the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team or any other uniformed personnel and volunteers.
They are rendering service above all their all in the name of King and Country. Social media photos and videos show them working tirelessly hand in hand in a race against time.
They face risks, hazards and unpredictable dangerous conditions during the course of duty. They too have families waiting for them at home. Let us all unite to offer our uniformed heroes the strength to soldier on in their operational duties.
Do not take them for granted as they too are placing their lives on the line, all in the name of duty. They do not ask for much. They only have one united objective, which is to save lives of not only human victims but pets and animals, which are also victims of the tragedy, and to assist in emergency operations.
We are fortunate to be able to have them in our darkest hours. Please do not throw insults and criticize them unnecessarily for matters beyond their control. Let us focus our positive energy to appreciate their efforts which clearly goes beyond the call of duty.
This is my thanks and gratitude to Malaysia’s finest, who have selflessly upheld their duty to God, King and Malaysia.
